Pulpotomy, also called as baby root canal is sometimes needed when the cavity is deep enough into the nerve of the tooth. During this procedure, the infected part of the nerve is removed and a medicine is placed. The tooth is then restored with a crown.
The purpose of a baby root canal is to maintain the integrity and health of a baby tooth and the supporting gum tissue and bone.
We at Springfield Pediatric Dentistry hence recommend regular check ups and cleanings, so we can detect cavities early on.
